How To Help
Parents are encouraged to take an active part in the school by volunteering their services, especially in the area of fundraising and development. Please indicate how you can help us by completing the Parent/Volunteer Form.
Development
In keeping with the goals of Immaculate Conception School, a Development Team is appointed by the Principal to address issues of:
• Public Relations
• Fundraising
• Grant Research/Writing
All families are requested to support the Team’s efforts throughout the year. These funds go directly to the operational budget and benefit all students. A list of scheduled events/activities is sent home in September.
Parent Teacher Organization
Immaculate Conception School Parent/Teacher Organization meets once a month. All parents are encouraged to join this group and take an active part in its activities. The objectives of the organization are:
• To promote cooperation between parents and school in order to achieve the best educational environment for the child
• To be a vehicle for communicating school related information to parents and the community
• To fund educational enrichment programs
• To organize social events that will encourage better communication within the school community
Room Parents
Responsibilities include facilitating the flow of communication between the school and parent as well as, aid in support of classroom activities, when directed by the classroom teacher.
Our room parents are an absolutely necessary resource for notifying other parents of entertainment, classroom functions, cancellations, etc. All activities and notifications are under the direction of the classroom teacher. We depend on the room parents for help in so many matters.
CORI
Virtus Training – Protecting God’s Children
Virtus Training is a mandatory training session for all volunteers in the Archdiocese of Boston. This includes Immaculate Conception School volunteers. The program runs approximately 2 -2 ½ hours. Seán Cardinal O’Malley has declared that no one will be allowed to volunteer who has not taken this training. Every adult can be empowered to be part of the solution in protecting God’s children from the societal problem of child sexual abuse. Virtus Training is offered several times a year. We will post these dates as they become available and the Immaculate Conception Parish bulletin will also post the training dates.
