Community Service

Each IC 8th grader is required to complete at least 10 hours of community service and 4 hours of school service. As a class, students complete several class projects, including cards for residents of nursing homes on three occasions, and making rosary bead cases for the first graders. Most students well-exceed the required time (60+ hours) and continue their community service throughout the year.

In School activities include:
  • North Pole Express
  • Halloween Party – set up, clean up, and supervise games
  • Help teachers after school
  • Set up for socials
  • Tutor younger student
  • Help at Journey afterschool programs
  • Altar Server training
Out of School Community Service Projects have included:
  • Helping with the Special Olympics
  • Painting and yard work for Merrimac Heights Academy
  • Assisting with the Saturday Morning Basketball Program
  • Serving meals at Salvation Army
  • Being a bell ringer for Salvation Army
  • Volunteering at the MSPCA
  • Teaching Boy Scouts how to raise, lower, and fold the flag
  • Fundraising for Walks such as St. Vincent dePaul, Jeanne Geiger, Pancreatic Cancer
  • Raising money through Golf Tournaments for Kawasaki’s disease
  • Visiting nursing homes
  • Vacation Bible School Holy Redeemer Church
  • Making blankets for Towers of Gifts for Newborns in need
  • Volunteering at Emmaus House
  • Playing music for IC Liturgy
